After the Philadelphia PD took Marie Noe's confession, they drover her home. At this time, 1998, she was about 70 years old. It was very uncommon for 70-year-olds to confess to four murders. By not arresting her then and there, the PD thought that they could get ahead of the Media and try containing the hell that was about to erupt, it's not like she was going anywhere or killing any more of her babies. A week later, the media found out about the arrest and hell did indeed break loose. The media placed Marie's defense attorney right at her doorstep. The PD proceeded to charge her with four counts of first-degree murder. She was then placed in jail, and a couple days later let out on bail by her husband, Arthur. A year had passed and she agreed to a plea bargain. If she plead guilty to murdering 8 of her 10 children, she had to spend four years under house arrest then twenty years of probation. The reason of why she got such a light sentence was because her confession would not have held up in court and there was a chance she would have been let free.
